Will Listeners Follow “Renegade” Howard Stern To Sirius?

Will Howard Stern’s legions of fans pay to follow him into the world of satellite radio? Stern seems to think so, but a new study from Bridge Ratings shows that many have not made up their minds yet. When asked if they would be subscribing to Sirius to keep hearing Stern’s show, 41 percent said they were “undecided.” Only 22 percent said they were planning on subscribing, while 37 percent said they were not.

Respondents (who, in a previous survey, had described Stern has their “favorite” morning show personality) were also asked questions about their awareness of Stern’s impending jump. The vast majority, 74 percent, said they were aware that Stern was leaving for Sirius. However, only 39 percent said they were aware of the costs involved with subscribing to Sirius. After being informed of the costs, only seven percent of respondents said they would be subscribing, with 44 percent saying they would not. Also, 49 percent were still undecided about subscribing.
