BMW’s Auto Launch Uses Sirius Satellite Radio

For the first time, a major automobile manufacturer is using satellite radio to promote a new vehicle launch. BMW of North America announced Wednesday an innovative promotion with Sirius to celebrate the launch of the new 3 Series vehicle.

The promotion, called “3 Across America” and running March 26-May 6, revolves around a 44-day cross-country tour featuring a caravan of 3 Series cars and culminates in an 18-hour broadcast on a special Sirius BMW channel. The program, described as part cultural diary, part entertainment, will provide a “travelogue” of the coast-to-coast tour from New York to Los Angeles, followed by a live concert starring top-name artists from the Peterson Automotive Museum in L.A.
