XM gets PGA deal

Football, baseball, Nascar and now golf. Rivals XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio are working hard to beef up sports programming, and XM landed the latest deal.

The District-based broadcaster says it has exclusive rights to broadcast PGA Tour events in a long-term broadcasting and marketing agreement with the Professional Golf Association. It didn’t disclose the financial terms.

XM says, beginning this summer, a new PGA Tour Network channel will broadcast live tournament coverage each week, plus daily programs designed for golf enthusiasts. It will also rent or sell portable XM radio receivers to fans who attend PGA tournaments.
